What Shades will Suit your Face Shape?

What Shades will Suit your Face Shape?

FemaleFirst has not only some of the best buys out there at the moment but also some tips on shapes to try and avoid using some celebrity faces for inspiration and guidance.

If like Beyonce or Charlize Theron you have an oval face, your face is well balanced and softly rounded

Square face: If you have a square chin and broad forehead much like the lovely Sandra Bullock and Kim Cattrall you should try going for frames that soften your jaw line. You will find that this is helped a lot by oval and round shaped glasses. Avoid thin, square styles with a colour at the bottom of the frame as this will draw attention to the chin and lead to imbalance.

Round face: Round faces tend to be quite short with a wide forehead, a rounded chin and plump looking cheeks. Celebrities which share this face shape are Uma Thermon and Cameron Diaz. If you're looking for a shade to suit you then try and go for a square shape and those that are wider across the face than they are deeper (veritcally). You want to keep all the attention at the top of your face. If you like a bit of glam find some with some detail at the temple to lock those eyes are the top of your face. Try not to wear small, circled shapes or over-sized frames as this will crowd your face, making it look smaller and rounder still.

Oval face: If like Beyonce or Charlize Theron you have an oval face, your face is well balanced and softly rounded (lucky things!) With cheekbones this high, most styles tend to suit you so the trick is to find a pair you feel as good in as you look. Be adventurous with modern styles or plastic rimmed aviators as Beyonce is spotted out in frequently. It sounds simple, but like all things - if they're uncomfortable, take them off!

Heart shaped face: Heart shaped faces tend to have a broader forehead which flows into a narrow chin. Though it doesn't sound too complimentary, stunners such as Jennifer Aniston and Halle Berry have this much sought after face shape...we don't hear you complaining now! Try and keep to rounded or square shapes but keeping them small so as to balance out the top of your face. The bigger you go, it will reflect your face shape as opposed to balancing it.

Long face: Sarah Jessica Parker and Elle MacPherson are both celebrities that have a long face. Features include high cheekbones and deep forehead. Aim to balance this with a larger square frame - choose a colour to suit you and your personality. Avoid smaller frames as these will not stand out as much and will sit funny in the middle of your face.
