A little snow doesn't scare us!

A little snow doesn't scare us!

As much as you were wishing that snow was SO 2009, the icy weather is set to continue well into 2010. That's right, the icy white blanket you're currently staring at from your window is not going anywhere - so you might aswell embrace it and dress for the occasion.

This big chill may be as long and drawn out as the Winter of Discontent in 1979, so whilst our cars are dying and our radiators are over-heating, make sure you wrap up warm and snug for those times when you are indeed, forced to venture into the not-so-great outdoors.

Shrewsbury Snood - £44, Jack Wills

You want to start by making sure that no area of skin is ever on show, if your jacket doesn't zip up to your chin then you are in serious need of a Snood. It's basically a circular, thicker scarf, (we have deemed it the ULTIMATE scarf) which fits comfortably and snuggly around your neck.

Made mainly of lambswool, it's so soft you'd probably want to sleep in it too, although we definitely wouldn't recommend that.

Maniyak Apollo Armwarmers - £12, Topshop

You're thinking, 'what do I need arm warmers for when I've got a pair of gloves?' Layers. It's simple really, the more layers you have, the warmer you'll be. Plus, these are really, really cool.

Topshop's cream arm warmers are a God send for anyone prone to cold hands, wear these with a pair of gloves and you'll be laughing at the snow. Take that, Winter!

Ear Muffs - £16, Monsoon

It is not often you get to wear silly things on your head and get away with it, plus they are a great way of ignoring people you don't want to talk to.

On a serious note though, ear muffs are a necessity for everyone this winter. Ears are one of the first parts of the body to feel the cold, and as most of your body heat is lost through your head, you're going to want to keep them as warm as possible.

Also, anyone who wears ear muffs has the instant advantage of suddenly looking 'adorable,' we don't know why, but it's just common knowledge.

Cruella Cardigan - £60, French Connection

It won't take you two guesses to find out which cartoon star this fashionable winter bliss of a jumper was named after. Imagine if you had this on, your arm warmers and your snood, you'd think it was Summer! Snap this up now for pure Winter warmth.

Cord Trapper Hat - £12, New Look

Someone once said that the dumber the head gear, the warmer it is. Ok so maybe we made that up, but it's probably true. Those Russians weren't stupid though when they started wearing fur hats.

To be bang on trend this season, and ultimately warm, Trapper hats are the way to go. This hat from New Look is probably one of the cheapest you'll find, it's made with faux fur so you won't anger any Animal Rights activists.

Mini Gold Bead Jumper - £45, Topshop

We simply couldn't resist this adorable wooly jumper from topshop emroided with gold beads, we felt like we were in wool heaven when we stumbled across this find. Topshop combines glamour and warmth into one single item, and it certainly has our vote.

Rachwal Socks - £16, Jack Wills

These cream socks made from lambswool will have your frost bitten feet breathing a sigh of warm relief. Team them with leggings and Ugg boots for warm winter style.

Mantary Ceam and Back Beanie - £8.50, Debenhams

If you weren't brave enough to embrace the Trapper hat outside of Russia, or the privacy of your own home, then this could be the hat for you. Maybe a little less outlandish, but all the more adorable, Mantary's hat is available from the Debenham's sales for just £8.50. Bargain.

Popcorn Knit Tights - £12, Urban Outfitters

Knitted tights are probably a must-have for the cold Winter months, and especially so for our icy January. We don't wany any of this opaque malarky, we need something guarenteed to keep our legs warm and our toes toasted.

Gloves - £6, New Look

The stretchy fit gloves from New Look are cheap and cheerful, and aim to fit even the biggest of hands, complete with cute matching pom poms too. Sometimes we get a bit frustrated with our mittens whilst doing even the simplest of tasks, these gloves are cut off near the top which means that we can have warm hands AND we'll be able to text at the same time. Hooray.

Faux Fur Coat - £75, French Connection

The hottest way of keeping warm (and stylish) this winter, is without doubt the faux fur coat that we are seeing spring up in every high street shop we can come across. Our favourite is this aptly named 'Big Foot Coat' from French Connection - and check it out, it's half price, what are you waiting for?
