Basharatyan V SS14

Basharatyan V SS14

The Basharatyan V collection, Frida, was definitely a standout collection with the eclectic mix of bright, bold colours and printed fabrics.

The unique prints show the brands growth in confidence and experience, creating a stronger personality as the label matures.

Meixco and surrealist painted Frida Kahlo are the basis of the Frida collection.

Veronica Basharatyan was inspired by the pain and passion in Kahlo’s work and the intense vibrant colours.

This inspiration is reflected in the colour palette of the collection and the silhouettes reference from Frida Kahlo’s uncompromising depiction of the female experience and form.

The first impression of the collection is layers of delectable silk chiffons in a combination of both vivid and pastel colours, intriguing prints with pops of neon brights and zesty lemon and lime embellishments.

The balance in the collection comes from the luxurious silk pieces in soft, neutral palettes of sky blue and pale pink.

The statement piece of the season is a feminine twist on the man’s suit, created for the ‘Frida Kahlo’ of today. Key pieces also include a range of dresses with maxi, knee length and short styles in both soft and sculptured silhouttes.

The standout outfit is the soft cropped chiffon red top paired with the white mid-length pencil skirt.

The brands signature ‘ribbon knit’ is found this season in a charming range of clutch bags in vibrant colours which sit alongside the main collection.
