Prince William and Duchess Catherine

Prince William and Duchess Catherine

Duchess of Cambridge, Catherine Middleton has proved this past year that she most certainly is a style icon.

She wears classic pieces that may not particulary stand out in the fashion world, but she knows how to wear both designer and high street pieces and even how to mix the two.

It comes as no suprise then that it was recently revealed that women spend an average of £250 each to look like her, as calculated by retail experts.

Retail analysts estimate the Duchess effect is responsibile for boosting the economy by £1bn.

Alexandra Richmond from Mintel, explains to the Daily Mail: "Women in the UK aged 25-34 and are most likely to want to recreate the style of the Duchess of Cambridge

"The average dress from Reiss nudges the £200 mark and the versatile nude LK Bennett sledge shoes cost £195.

"Even the occasional chelsea blow-dry or the outlay on hair styling products to recreate her glossy hair style would all add to the spend."

How far do you go to channel the look of the future Queen.

Here's some of our picks of the similar items that Catherine has in her wardrobe.

When the Duchess met the President and the First Lady, she left us all in envy of her petite frame.

She opted for the High Street meeting the Obamas, choosing one of her favourites Reiss for the occasion.

The clothing chain Reiss have also posted a near doubling of profits - it's most likely partly down to the Kate-effect.

Why not try this Gérard Darel Frill detail nude dress, which is fairly similar to Catherine's.

Women's Nine West Well court shoes, Nude

Catherine is really ever parted from her nude L.K Bennett nude court shoes

And why not?

The shoe goes with almost everything and they play tricks on the eyes to make your legs look longer.

Who wouldn't want supermodel length legs?

These Nine West shoes are perfect for the day because the heel isn't too high - but don't forget to keep a pair of Party Feet in your bag, they're bound to start hurting at some point.

When the Duchess stepped out in her Burberry trench coat it was sold out over night.

Now that is some fashion flout.

Although we might not be able to get our hands on the designer version, we have to thank Kate and her choice of wardrobe staples.

It means that there are plently to chose from on the High Street.

The trench coat is a classic.
