Passionate Plates A Must For Valentines? Oh Please No

Love is in the air and it is starting to appear on our number plates as well, according to DVLA Personalised Registrations.

The organisation is bracing itself for its annual onslaught of passion in the form of romantically linked registrations, which come to the fore around Valentine’s.

Indeed, the agency witnessed a rush for K155 plates a year ago and is predicting more interest from cosy couples using registrations as expressions of love in 2008 with the added attraction of February 29th - the leap year day when tradition has it women can propose to men!

Top of the list for the month of love could be ‘MY08 LUV’, which if well received could be followed by ‘MR08 MRS’. Someone’s answer to being proposed to might be ‘XX08 YES’, although it would be a harsh man who responds with ‘NO57 WAY’. You ruthless man.

Apparently one in five registrations are purchased as a gift so registration plates featuring Xs and loved ones’ names or initials are extremely popular. There is more good news in the fact there is still a good selection of ‘K155’ plates available. Oh girls please whatever you do, don’t go down this road and buy him a plate.

Sadly the plate, ‘1 DO’, which is probably the ultimate wedding registration, has been sold for £10,000 back in 1992.

While someone gets me a bucket, I wonder if this plate was ever used?
