2016 is set to be another very exciting movie year with a whole host of films that are not to be missed - are there any you are already looking forward to?

Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice

Of course, there are plenty of sequels on the horizon and there are a whole host that I really cannot wait to see. We take a look at some of the 'must see' sequels of 2016.

- Captain America: Civil War - released 29th April

When it comes to any movie in 2016, Captain America: Civil War is the one that I am looking forward to the most as it promises to be the biggest film in the series to date.

Civil War is the third solo film for Captain America and will kick off Phase 3 of Marvel movies in fine style. Chris Evans is back in the title role, while Anthony and Joe Russo are back in the director's chair. The Russo brothers steered The Winter Solider to critical and commercial success last year and I cannot wait to see what they deliver this time around.

Civil War is based on the iconic and popular Civil War comic book arc and will see the Avengers split into teams and go head to head. The movie brings together once of the best ensemble casts as Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, and Paul Rudd are just some of the names on board.

Daniel Bruhl and Martin Freeman are two of the new additions while we will be introduced to Chadwick Boseman and Tom Holland as Black Panther and Spider Man for the very first time.

Civil War will be the first of two Marvel films in 2016 - the second being Doctor Strange - and will set up events for the already highly anticipated Avengers: Infinity War.

The more I have heard about Captain America: Civil War the more I have been looking forward to it. Could this be the first Captain America film to gross over $1 billion? I guess we are going to have to wait and see. I do wish they would hurry up and put out the first trailer!!!!

- The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist - released 17th June

It was back in 2013 when The Conjuring hit the big screen and, for me, it remains one of the best horror movies in recent years. A sequel is on the horizon and it will see James Wan back in the director's chair.

The Conjuring was a wonderfully tense watch that didn't rely on CGI and torture porn to get its scares. Wan built the tension up the good old fashioned way - creaking doors and bumps in the night - resulting in a chilling horror film that had you on the edge of your seat.

After dabbling with the blockbuster this summer with Fast & Furious 7, I am pleased to say that Wan is returning to the horror genre to direct The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist.

Filming is under way on the film and it will see Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga also reprise their roles as Ed and Lorraine Warren, who were a married pair of American paranormal investigators.

The Enfield Poltergeist was a case that they tackled in 1977, when they visited a home in Enfield, England. This has already been the topic of TV series The Enfield Haunting and I cannot wait to see Wan tackle this on film.

- Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - released 25th March

2016 is going to be the year of the comic book movie and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is set to be one that is not to be missed. The movie is the sequel to Man of Steel and will see Zack Snyder back in the director's chair.

Henry Cavill is back as Superman for the first time since the success of Man of Steel in 2013 and Ben Affleck will take over the role of Batman for the first time; we haven't seen Batman on the big screen since The Dark Knight Rises in 2012.

Warner Bros is trying to build a DC Comic Universe like Marvel as we head towards a Justice League movie - I personally cannot wait to see Superman and Batman go head to head. The casting of Affleck may have caused some controversy but I am looking forward to seeing an older Bruce Wayne.

A great cast has been assembled for the film as we are also going to be introduced to Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Jesse Eisenberg, and Jeremy Irons as Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Lex Luthor, and Alfred. There are plenty of familiar faces to watch out for as Diane Lane, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, and Laurence Fishburne are also back.

Dawn of Justice will be the first time we have seen Snyder in the director's chair since Man of Steel, David S. Goyer has teamed up with Chris Terrio to pen the screenplay.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is a movie that has been generated excitement ever since it was announced and it looks set to be one of the anticipated and biggest films of 2016.

- Ice Age: Collision Course - 15th July

It was back in 2002 when we were introduced to the characters of Manny, Sid, and Diego for the first in Ice Age - yes, it really was thirteen years ago.

Since then, three sequels have followed and Ice Age has gone on to become one of the most successful animation film franchises. Next summer, Manny, Sid, and Diego are back in Ice Age: Collision Course.

Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, and Denis Leary are back to voice the characters of Manny, Sid, and Diego. Queen Latifah, Seann William Scott, Josh Peck, Simon Pegg, Keke Palmer, Wanda Sykes, and Jennifer Lopez are also back.

Scrat's epic pursuit of the elusive acorn catapults him into the universe where he accidentally sets off a series of cosmic events that transform and threaten the Ice Age World. To save themselves, Sid, Manny, Diego, and the rest of the herd must leave their home and embark on a quest full of comedy and adventure, travelling to exotic new lands and encountering a host of colourful new characters.

There are a whole host of great animation movies coming our way and Ice Age: Collision Course is promising to be one that is not to be missed. It also looks like it is going to be one of the most successful at the box office. The franchise has already grossed over $2 billion worldwide and Collision Course will be another huge film.

- X-Men: Apocalypse - 19th May

I have been a huge fan of the X-Men franchise ever since X-Men was released back in 2000 - it was the movie that really propelled Hugh Jackman to global fame. Next spring, X-Men: Apocalypse will hit the big screen and it sees Bryan Singer return to the director's chair.

X-Men: Apocalypse comes two years after the critical and commercial success of Days of Future Past and I can't wait to see what Singer delivers next. At the moment, the plot is being kept under wraps and we are yet to see the film's first trailer.

James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult are back as Charles Xavier, Magneto, Mystique and Beast, while Evan Peters and Rose Byrne are two of the other familiar faces on the cast list.

This time around, there are plenty of new additions as Oscar Isaac, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp and Kodi Smit-McPhee will be introduced as Apocalypse, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm, and Nightcrawler. It has still not been confirmed as to whether Jackman will be making an appearance as Wolverine; he is the only actor to have appeared in all the X-Men films.

The 'younger years' of some of our favourite mutant characters has been hugely successful with First Class and Days of Future Past winning over critics and audiences in recent years. But this looks like it could be the last time that we certain actors in the franchise. I am really looking forward to the first trailer for this film.

- Bourne 5 - 29th July 2016

For so long it looked like we wouldn't see Matt Damon return to the role of Jason Bourne... now the cameras are rolling on the new film and it will be an unmissable action film next summer.

Yes, Damon is back as Bourne for what will be his fourth film in the franchise as he reunites with filmmaker Paul Greengrass. Greengrass took over the Bourne franchise with The Bourne Supremacy and he helped elevate it to a great action franchise.

This will be the first time we have seen Damon in this role since The Bourne Ultimatum in 2007 and the first film since The Bourne Legacy back in 2012 - which saw Jeremy Renner take over the central role of Aaron Cross.

Julia Stiles is also set to reprise the role of Nicky, while Alicia Vikander, Tommy Lee Jones, Vincent Cassel, and Riz Ahmed are some of the new additions to the franchise; it really is a very exciting cast that I cannot wait to see in action.

Of course, nothing is known about the plot right now, but Damon has revealed that the film will be set in a post-Snowdon world.

The Bourne franchise has already grossed over $1 billion at the box office but the upcoming film looks set to be the most successful so far as fans will flock to check out Damon's return to this role.

Other sequels that are also not to be missed, include Kung Fu Panda 3, London Has Fallen, Alice Through The Looking Glass and Finding Dory.
