Princess And The Frog – Expected Release Feb 5th
Disney’s first true animated film for nearly six years, The Princess and The Frog famously sees the first ever African 
American princes in the shape of Tiana La Bouff.
Set in the French Quarter of New Orleans in 1913, The Princess and The Frog sees Prince Naveen, a playboy being made to get married by his parents arrive by boat to marry Tiana’s younger sister and get her family’s fortune.
But after an evil witch doctor, also after the fortune, turns him into a frog, he gets Tiana to kiss him, to reverse the spell. It backfires completely though, with Tiana becoming a frog as well.
The two of them must travel into the swamps to find a kindly voodoo woman to change them back, befriending a trumpet playing alligator and a hopelessly romantic fire fly.
Going back to the classic style of Disney films of old, The Princess and The Frog has just been released in the US to rave reviews and shows that Disney can still cut the mustard without the help of Pixar.
Clash of the Titans – Expected Release March 26th
Hollywood’s new blockbuster king Sam Worthington leads the way in this colossal remake 
of the ancient Greek myth.
He stars as Perseus, a man born of the Gods but raised as a mortal, who after losing his family, volunteers to lead a band of warriors to fight against Hades (Ralph Fiennes of the Harry Potter series) in order to stop him overthrowing Zeus (Liam Neeson from Batman Begins) and bringing hell to Earth.
Battling such monstrosities as Medusa and giant scorpions, Perseus’ adventure will easily of one of 2010’s biggest blockbusters.
Early trailers look promising and if French director Louis Leterrier can keep in charge of proceedings, this looks set to kick off 2010’s Summer of Fun with a splash with a great cast and great special effects.
Iron Man 2 – Expected Release April 30th
Easily the film of 2010, the prospect of Iron Man 2 has had both comic book and movie fans pepped up with excitement ever since the original of two years ago.
Based in the hugely popular Marvel comic book, Iron Man 2 will take up straight after the first film, following the life of Tony Stark (the brilliant Robert Downey Jr) a billionaire, genius, playboy arms ex-arms dealer.
After realising the errors of his ways, he dedicates himself to fighting villains in a bright red metal suit, capable of near enough anything.
So far, so Batman, but the first movie had a brilliantly funny streak straight through it, raising it above so many in the action crowd.
That’s set to continue, as the trailer delivers as many laughs as gasps after he reveals himself to be Iron Man at a press conference to the world.
With new baddie Whiplash to deal with (the resurgent Mickey Rourke), along with Russian spy ‘Black Widow’ (Scarlett Johanson)and rival business man Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell), Tony’s got just a little bit on his plate to deal with.
It looks like he’ll need all the help he can get from his girlfriend Pepper Potts (Gywneth Paltrow) and his good friend Colonel Rhodes (Don Cheadle).
With a brilliant ensemble cast, breath taking action and great wit Iron Man 2 is sure to set the screen a-light this summer.
Robin Hood – Expected Release May 14th
One of Hollywood’s best combinations team up yet again for this retelling of the legendary fable about Britain’s favourite justice dealing archer of the forests set to hit the silver screen this year.
Apart from it’s a bit different than it used to be. Out with tights and hats at jaunty angles in with chain mail and, from what we’ve seen lots of horse riding.
Crowe stars as Sir Robin Hood of Locksley, who after returning from fighting in the third crusade to his village under the oppressive rule of the new Sheriff of Nottingham, played by Matthew Macfadyen (Pride and Prejudice).
Add in his attempts to win the affections of Cate Blanchett’s recently widowed Lady Marion and you have a pretty traditional Robin Hood tale, just a bit more rugged.
With the teaser trailer just hitting the net, check out our film blog for it, showing a lot more swords on a beach than merry men in a forest.
We’ll have to wait to see how it turns out, but with such a stellar cast let’s hope its more Gladiator than Kingdom of Heaven.
Shrek 4 – Expected Release July 9th
This year, we’ll see a different Shrek. Now a civil house husband, who no longer scares villagers away but signs there pitchforks.
Needing to get some adventure in his life, he makes a deal with the scheming Rumplestiltskin (voiced by Paul McCartney), finding himself in a weird world where Donkey is clever, Fiona and him have never met, Puss in Boots has become a fat, lazy house cat and the devious Rumplestiltskin is king.
Shrek has to try and find his way out of this twisted reality and reclaim what he lost.
Although the series took a real nose-dive with the third film, there’s always hope that with everything tipped on to its head, the greatness of the first movie can be found yet again.
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader - Expected Release December 10th
As the Harry Potter series continues it’s assault on the big screen, The Chronicles of Narnia is set to strike back this year with The Voyage of t
he Dawn Treader.
Returning to the enchanted land of Narnia, we will see Edward, Lucy and their cousin Eustace swallowed into a painting and on to a fantastic Narnian ship headed for the very edges of the world.
While sailing on The Dawn Treader they meet up again with King Caspian on a mission on a mysterious mission to the Lone Islands and beyond, where they encounter slave drivers, dragons and a terrible storm on their way to try and find the lost worlds of Narnia.
No footage has emerged yet, but anticipation is high for the biggest adventure into the land of Narnia yet and looks set to become a surefire Christmas hit when it opens in December this year.
Don’t take this list though as the only big films to be coming out over the next twelve months.
With the next Harry Potter film set for release, Bourne pairing of director Paul Greengrass and actor Matt Damon to pair up for thriller Green Zone, Christopher Nolan’s Inception as well as the sequel to trippy 1980’s sci-fi Tron possibly getting it’s release this year and The Sorcerer's Apprentice we’re sure in for one heck of a ride in 2010.
