Nonso Anozie

Nonso Anozie

While Nonso Anozie has achieved acclaim as a theatre actor it was only last year where he really grabbed everyone's attention as a film actor in Cass.

The thirty year old actor graduated from the Central School of Speech and Drama in 2002 and that very same year he became the youngest person to plat William Shakespeare's King Lear professionally.

He found further success in the theatre in 2005 when he was awarded with the Ian Charleson award for his role as Othello.

By 2006 he had moved into television appearing in Prime Suspect: The Final Act with Helen Mirren before going on to The Last Legion, his movie debut in 2007.

While he appeared in Atonement and Mike Leigh's Happy Go Lucky it was Cass, the real-life story of Cass Pennant, that gave him his first film lead.

Cass follows the incredible true story of how an orphaned Jamaican baby, adopted by an elderly white couple and brought up in an all white area of London, became one of the most feared and respected men in Britain.

Cass grew up in a time before political correctness and was forced to endure racist bullying on a daily basis, until one day when the years of pent up anger came out in a violent burst. Cass found through violence the respect he never had and became addicted to the buzz of fighting.

His way of life finally caught up with him when an attempted assassination on his life, saw him shot three times at point blank range.

He went on to turn his life around to become a best selling author.

Since then Anozie has worked steadily next appearing in Guy Ritchie's movie RocknRolla as Tank, the man who knows everything that's going on on the street.

His next project sees him return to television to star alongside James Nesbitt in Occupation and it is currently in post production.
