3D Animation

So here at Female First we take a look back at our favourite 3D Animated movies of 2009 that made our world a better place for watching them.

Number One Up

UP saw the return of Disney/Pixar to the big screen, opening with a young boy Carl Fredrickson in love with the sense of adventure and his explorer hero Charles Muntz.

Carl then meets a like minded young girl named Ellie and they become inseparable.

They both dream of visiting the Lost Land in South America but when Ellie passes away 78-year-old Carl world is torn apart.

He takes matters in his own hands and ties a million helium balloons to his house and takes off to the lost land.

Things don’t go to plan as a stowaway is on board, Russell  a wilderness explorer becomes a part of the trip and provides the film with and upbeat angle.

The story, visual effects and non stop laughs and adventure, make this the must see 3D film of the year.

It also has the added surprise of bringing a few tears to our eyes something we wouldn’t expect from a children’s 3D movie.

Number Two Coraline

Coraline finds herself entering a new world when she becomes unsatisfied with the attention her mum and dad show her.

Moving into a new house and area she finds a secret door that leads to an alternative world that is a parallel reality that has a eerily similarity to her real life

She becomes to learn that having the parents she has isn’t a bad thing and isn’t willing for her eyes to be turned into buttons making her unable to return to the real world.

The film is fascinating for both adults and children but it seems that the looks and world of Coraline seems to be more scarier for the adults in the audience then the children.

At one hour and forty minutes long, this is the longest stop-motion film to date and the first 3D stop-motion to date.

The film delivers a great message that things aren’t what they seem to  be and not to take your family for granted.

Coraline is surely a family classic and is a film that everyone has to enjoy.

The stop-motion is the best to date with the star studded cast and storyline to make the perfect film.

Number 3 Ice Age 3: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs

After the events of “Ice Age: The Meltdown", life begins to change for Manny and his friends.

Scrat goes on the hunt to hold on to his acorn, and finds a possible romance in the pursuit with a female Scratte.

With Manny and Ellie expecting their first child, Diego feels fed up and left out,  and Sid wishes for a family of his own.

In Sid’s quest for a family he ends up in a strange underground world in which he needs to get rescued by his friends.

Things aren’t as straight forward as the underground world is the Dinosaur world and they are faced with danger each way they turn. They end up making anew friend Buck will hunts dinosaurs till he dies.

For all Ice Age fans this movie is a must see, the animation is crisper and cleared and the 3D makes the film that more special to watch.

The film also drew in a whole new audience ones that might not be aware of the Ice Age history. The films pleases all audiences and won’t leave anyone unsatisfied.

Number 4 Monsters vs Aliens

A few minutes before her wedding to Derek Dietl, a TV weatherman, Susan Murphy is hit by a meteorite.

The meteorite is infused with quantonium, a rare and powerful element that causes her to grow just as she starts to recite her vows.

Target by the government she is imprisoned and captured by the government as a monster.

Imprisoned at a secret facility where other creatures are being held, including Dr. Cockroach,  a mad scientist who accidentally transformed himself into a roach-human hybrid.

B.O.B. a gelatinous, brainless, but talkative mass brought to life in an experiment gone wrong; and  the Missing Link , a Creature from the Black-Lagoon.

When an alien overlord Gallaxhar comes to Earth to obtain the precious quantonium and conquer the world.

U.S. President Hathaway offers the monsters their freedom in exchange for defeating the evil mastermind.

The film is possibly one of the most geekiest animated films ever made as it was made for people who loved 1950s monster films.

A child friendly classic the characters work on two levels both for children and adults.

The effects are superb and the CGI did the film justice, it came as  a pleasant surprise us.

So that’s our round up of the best Animated 3D films of the year we can’t help but love them all.

The way they integrated adult humour but still appealing to children is a rarity and it isn’t very often you find a film that the whole family can enjoy.
