Meryl Streep is one of the best actresses of her generation and she is set to return to the big screen with her new film Florence Foster Jenkins.

Florence Foster Jenkins

Florence Foster Jenkins sees Streep back in a leading role for the first time since Ricki and the Flash and she is set to take on the real-life title role.

The movie looks set to be a biopic/comedy and I cannot wait to see Streep in action as she teams up with filmmaker Stephen Frears.

The brand new trailer for the film has been unveiled and we have it for you to take a look at:

This is the first time that Streep has teamed up with Frears, who has brought us movies such as Mrs. Henderson Presents, The Queen, and Philomena in recent years - this is his first feature since sports drama The Program last year.

It is always exciting when a Frears film is one horizon as all of his movie projects are driven by great stories and interesting characters - Florence Foster Jenkins looks like it is going to continue that fine tradition.

And the director has brought together a great cast as Hugh Grant, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Helberg, and Nina Arianda will all star alongside Streep.

Florence Foster Jenkins tells the inspirational true story of the eponymous New York heiress who obsessively pursued her dream of becoming a great singer. The film celebrates the human spirit, the power of music and the passion of amateurs everywhere.

The voice Florence (Streep) heard in her head was divine, but to the rest of the world, it was hilariously awful. At private recitals, her devoted husband and manager, St Clair Bayfield (Grant), managed to protect Florence from the truth. But when Florence decided to give her first public concert at New York's Carnegie Hall, St Clair realised he had perhaps bitten off more than he could chew.

Florence Foster Jenkins is released 6th May.
