Gravity

Gravity

Science Fiction has been a really strong genre this year and we have already been treated to a series of fantastic films.

And that looks set to continue into the autumn and Gravity is one of the projects that we should all be watching our for.

The movie sees Alfonso Cuarón back in the director's chair for what is his feature film since Children of Men back in 2006 - he has been working in documentary shorts since then.

Oscar winners George Clooney and Sandra Bullock team up for the first time as they find themselves stranded in space.

This movie looks set to be a real character study that will see both Bullock and Clooney at their very best; I am excited to see their performances in this film.

Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring.

But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone - tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness.

The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth... and any chance for rescue.

As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

There is a real buzz building around this movie and it could be one of the real stand out films of the latter part of the year - some have also tipped the film as one of the possible awards contenders.

Gravity is released 18th October.
