Gravity

Gravity

Gravity is one of the autumn movies that we are really excited about here at FemaleFirst, as Alfonso Cuarón returns to the director's chair.

It has now been confirmed that Gravity will be hitting the big screen in November, and it is set to be one of the sci-fi events of the year.

The more I see of this movie the more I am looking forward to it - and we have some more images from the film to share with you:

Cuaron has brought us movies such as Children of Men and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in recent years; this will be his first feature film since Children of Men back in 2006.

The film sees him team up with both Sandra Bullock and George Clooney for the very first time; these two Oscar winning actors will carry the whole film with no supporting stars.

Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring.

But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone - tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness.

The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth... and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left.

But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

Gravity is a film that is already being tipped as a possible awards and Oscar contender, so don't be surprised if we see this film in the running when the awards are being handed out early next year.

We are use to seeing alien invasion and humans fighting for the planet when it comes to science fiction films of late, but Gravity is set to buck that trend.

Instead Cuaron is poised to deliver a very human movie about survival and fear... this is one that is not to be missed!!

Gravity is released 8th November.
