It seems that the US can't seem to get enough of the handbag sized puppy as Beverly Hills Chihuahua was top dog at the American box office this weekend claiming the top spot.A pampered Beverly Hills Chihuahua named Chloe finds herself accidentally lost in the mean streets of Mexico without a day spa or Rodeo Drive boutique anywhere in sight. Now alone for the first time in her spoiled life, she must rely on some unexpected new friends, including a street-hardened German Shepherd named Delgado and an amorous pup named Papi, to lend her a paw and help her to find her inner strength on their incredible journey back home. The Disney movie grossed $29 million in it's opening weekend to knock Shia LaBeouf's Eagle Eye from the number one spot after just one week.Eagle Eye only slipped to number two grossing just over $17 million as Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, which stars Michael Cera and Kat Dennings as teens who fall for each other on a wild New York City night, rounded off the top three.Nights of Rodanthe, with reunites Richard Gere and Diane Lane for the first time since Unfaithful was a new entry at number four while Ed Harris' Western Appaloosa was a surprise entry at number five.After topping the chart both Lakeview Terrace the Coen Brother's Burn After Reading fell further down the chart to six and seven respectfully.1.
