Bill Condon is in talks to take charge of the split Breaking Dawn movies.
Sources at film company Summit Entertainment have confirmed that Condon has emerged as a favourite to land the coveted director role.
EW.com reports Gus Van Sant, Mark Waters and Sofia Coppola were each considered - but Condon is now leading the pack.
If reports are true, Condon will spend the next year in Vancouver, Canada shooting the Breaking Dawn film.
As a result, the movie maker's Salmon Fishing in the Yemen has now been put on hold.
Twilight Saga fever looks set to sweep the globe again this summer as Eclipse, the third movie in the franchise, hits the big screen.
The movie is released just eight months after New Moon dominated the box office when it released back in November.
Despite not fairing well with the critics the film went on to gross over $707 million at the global box office.
