Christopher Nolan has revealed that his new movie Inception was inspired by the James Bond franchise.

The director grew up watching 007's exploits and admits that these movies were a huge influence on his latest project, his first movie in two years.

Speaking to ContactMusic the director said: "The Bond influence on the film was very intentional because, for me, growing up with the Bond films - they've always stood for grand-scale action (and) stood for the promise of being taken to some place bigger than you could have imagined.

"In dealing with the human mind and dreams, my mind naturally gravitates towards the Bond films as that sort of expression of cinematic potential.

"By the end of the film you feel that Inception could go anywhere and do anything."

Nolan is currently juggling a couple of projects as he is set to serve as producer on a new Superman movie as well as return to the Batman franchise.

It will be his third Batman, he revealed earlier this month that he was working on a new script.

Inception is released 16th July.
