Dan Aykroyd

Dan Aykroyd has revealed that it is a female ghosthunter that will lead the Ghostbusters team in the new movie.

In an interview with The Guardian the actor said: "There'll be a whole new generation that has to be trained and a leader that you'll all love when you meet her."

The actor went on to hint at elements of the plot saying that the new team will be "learning how to use the neuron splitter and the inter-planet interceptor - new tools to enable them to slip from dimension to dimension".

Aykroyd is returning to the film series, along with Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson, for the first time since 1989, they first burst onto cinema screens.

Aykroyd, along with Ramis, penned the script as well as starring in the film but it is Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky who are working in the new script.

Rumours have circulated that Judd Apatow would take on directing duties but more recently Harold Ramis himself has been linked with the role.
