Iron Man 2

Iron Man 2

Iron Man 2 has held off competition from Furry Vengeance and A Nightmare On Elm Street to stay at the top of the UK box office.

Taking another £3.2 this weekend the action hero sequel comfortably held onto the top spot, the movie has now grossed over $332 million.

Brendan Fraser's new movie Furry Vengeance had to settle for second spot, despite a mauling from the critics.

But taking £1.7 million this weekend the comedy did out perform the latest horror classic, in the form of A Nightmare On Elm Street, to get the makeover treatment.

A New entry at three the movie lagged behind Vengeance as it too £1.3 million, it too has struggled with the critics.

Jackie Earle Haley has taken over the iconic role of Freddy Krueger and Samuel Bayer is in the director's chair.

Nancy, Kris, Quentin, Jesse and Dean all live on Elm Street. At night, they're all having the same dream--of the same man, wearing a tattered red and green striped sweater, a beaten fedora half-concealing a disfigured face and a gardener's glove with knives for fingers. And they're all hearing the same frightening voice...

One by one, he terrorizes them within the curved walls of their dreams, where the rules are his, and the only way out is to wake up.

And it's new entries that dominate the top of the UK box office this week as Hot Tub Time Machine is new at four while Jennifer Lopez's new film The Back Up Plan is new at five.

Despite the controversy surrounding the film Four Lions is the fifth and final new entry inside the top ten this week at number six.

How To Train Your Dragon has dropped five places from two to seven while there's a four place drop for The Last Song.

BUt this week's biggest faller come in the form of Date Night as it drops six places from last week's three to this week's number nine.
