Lee Unkrich has revealed that the idea for Toy Story 3 was there straight after the second movie.

But it's been eleven year since we have seen Woody, Buzz and co on the big screen, hard to believe it was back in 1999, but they are back this summer.

Speaking to ComingSoon the director said: We had an idea for "Toy Story 3" right after "Toy Story 2." John was really gung-ho and we were ready to go right way.

"He wanted to just jump into it, especially because when you've been in the middle of a movie for so long, you get intoxicated by working with characters and it's hard to say goodbye to it. It's like you've been in a play for years, and you don't want the cast to break up.

"So John was ready to go with 3 and we had an idea, but there were all these crazy contractual problems with Disney at the time, because we were two separate companies.

"Without going into any details, we just found ourselves in a position that we couldn't make something else, it just wasn't going to happen.

"Luckily, when Disney ended up buying Pixar four years ago, all those problems went away instantly overnight...

Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack are all back to voice the characters of Woody, Buzz and Jessie and they are joined by new voices such as Michael Keaton and Ned Beatty.
