A lost two-year-old Rooney Mara film, directed by fashion icon Diane Von Furstenberg's daughter Tatiana, has been picked up thanks to her much-hyped role in David Fincher's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo adaptation.

The actress was an unknown when she auditioned for the lead in Tanner Hall because Von Furstenberg thought she was "a Grace Kelly type".

The film appeared in competition at the Toronto Film Festival in Canada at the end of 2009, but failed to find a distributor.

Now bosses at Anchor Bay will release the film later this year (11), hoping to cash in on Mara's appeal around the launch of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

Tanner Hall is a coming-of-age movie about the students at a Rhode Island boarding school and features Von Furstenberg costumes, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
