M.Night Shyamalan has revealed that he is keen to work on further Airbender projects.

The director has helmed the adaptation of the hit cartoon The Last Airbender, which will hit UK cinemas later this summer, and is already working on a sequel.

Speaking to MTV the filmmaker said:  "The third one is more ambiguous, but the second one I've written a draft that I'm really happy with and is darker and richer.

"It has a wonderful antagonist in it in Azula, who is kind of our only real pure antagonist in the series so I'm excited about that."

The director has also revealed his plans for the DVD release of The Last Airbender: "I probably won't show the Kyoshi Warriors because I want to save them for the second movie, because I'm going to have to introduce them all over again.

"We shot [the scene] and they were amazing, and we spent an unbelievable amount of time choreographing them."

The Last Airbender is the first directing project for Shyamalan since his universally panned movie The Happening back in 2008 but this film has also struggled with the critics.

The Last Airbender is released 13th August.
