Mark Ruffalo

Mark Ruffalo says that The Avengers delivers a message.

The actor is set to take over the role of the Hulk as a handful of the Marvel heroes are brought together to fight evil as a team.

And the actor, who we have not seen as Bruce Banner before, believes that the movie gives a powerful message of not always doing things to benefit oneself.

Talking to the Wall Street Journal the actor said: "You have all these disparate egos, super heroes in this and that, and they refuse to give up some of their positions in order to make a more perfect union and to join the team.

"That's really what the whole movie is about - subjugating your own best interest momentarily to further that of the whole."

The movie sees Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth return to the role of Iron Man, Captain America and Thor while we get a proper look at Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.

Tom Hiddleston is also back as Loki while Samuel L Jackson and Scarlett Johansson return as Nick Fury and the Black Widow.

The movie is helmed by Joss Whedon and is set to be one of the biggest blockbusters of 2012.

The Avengers is released 27th April.
