Michelle Rodriguez jumped at the chance to work with Robert Rodriguez in his new movie Machete.

The actress joins an all star cast of Robert De Niro, Danny Trejo, Jessica Alba and Lindsay Lohan in an expansion of a fake trailer that was released along with Grindhouse back in 2007.

And the actress admits that she has always wanted to work on a movie with Rodriguez.

Speaking to Collider the actress said: "It was like, 'Holy schnap, about time!' I’ve always wanted to work with him. He’s a cool cat.

"There’s only a handful of directors who really understand what I call the alchemical balance between a man and a woman, in a woman’s body, which most people consider the strong woman character.

"Not many people understand how to balance that out properly, so that she’s sexy and kicks ass. He gets it, so I’ve always wanted to work with him. Hands down, he calls me up and I’m just like, 'Yep, I’m in!'"

Rodriguez enjoyed massive box office success at the end of last year after Avatar broke all records to become the biggest grossing movie of all time.

As well as Machete the actress will also star in Battle: Los Angeles, alongside Aaron Eckhart, which is currently in post production as well as being linked to Army Of Two.

Machete is released 26th November.
