Karen Gillan has described her Guardians of the Galaxy character as a ‘complete sadist’.
Gillan has completed work on Guardians of the Galaxy and will be taking on the role of Nebula in the latest Marvel movie; the film will be hitting the big screen next summer.
Speaking to Total Film the actress said: She very much indulges in inflicting physical pain on people. She gets a real kick out of that - she’s basically a complete sadist.
“I hadn’t read the comics at all, I did some research on the character when I was screen testing. She’s basically a space-pirate and she’s really mean”
Guardians of the Galaxy is set to be the biggest film of Gillan’s career to date as she teams up with director James Gunn for the first time.
She is part of an all star cast as Chris Pratt, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana and Benicio Del Toro are all also on board.
Gillan is currently working on her latest movie The List; the film sees the actress turn her hand to the rom-com.
Harris Goldberg is in the director’s chair while Jennifer Morrison and Patrick Fugit are also on the cast list. The film is set to hit the big screen next year.
Guardians of the Galaxy is set to be the fourth film in Marvel’s Phase 2 of films; it is also the penultimate Phase 2 film before we are treated to The Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015.
Guardians of the Galaxy is released 1st August 2014.
