Directed by James Marsh, King of Thieves tells the true story of the Hatton Garden diamond heist, which sent shockwaves throughout Britain back in April 2015 when a gang of retired crooks came together once more to pull off their biggest and most daring project to-date. Produced by Working Title Film for STUDIOCANAL, those excited to see exactly what went down are now able to get their first glimpse of the action, as a fantastic new trailer for the movie has dropped. Bringing together a stellar cast that includes Sir Michael Caine, Jim Broadbent, Tom Courtenay, Charlie Cox, Michael Gambon and Ray Winstone, King of Thieves looks to be one of this year’s most ambitious and thrilling cinematic offerings.
Caine takes on the leading role of Brian Reader; the criminal responsible for co-ordinating the team of thieves and directing the robbery which looked set to bring in millions upon millions of pounds for the group.
BAFTA-winning and Academy Award nominees Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner team up to produce, alongside Ali Jaafar and Michelle Wright.
Whilst there’s still a few months to go until release, the hype surrounding King of Thieves is at an all-time high. This year has already been a big one for heist movies, with the moderately successful release of the all-female Ocean’s 8, and so there’s a lot riding on the shoulders of this flick.
Whether or not it will be a success remains to be seen, but we’re pretty certain the allure of a great action film featuring some of the biggest names from Hollywood is enough to pull people in.
