Mark Ruffalo has dropped some hints as to what we can expect from the character of Hulk in Thor 3.

Ruffalo is set to make his first appearance outside of the Avengers franchise and will reprise the role of Bruce Banner in Thor: Ragnarok, which will hit the big screen in 2017.

At the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, we saw Banner on the run and Ruffalo says that this character has decided to remove himself from humanity altogether.

Speaking to Ain't It Cool News, the actor said: "He's on the run. I think that we carry that through. It's not just a matter of taking himself to some remote place and hiding. Now he's removing himself from humanity altogether.

"I'm not sure where we're going to head with that, but I'm sure that's probably still very much alive within him. It's very subtle, but the Banner/Hulk consciousness is beginning to meld a little bit. Who decided to leave? Was it Banner or Hulk? It's not really in the cinematic mythology of Hulk up until that moment to be that conscious and pro-active."

While it looks like we are not going to get a solo Hulk movie for some time, it is great to see this character and actor moving out of the Avengers franchise and into some of the other solo movie projects.

Filming on Thor: Ragnarok will get underway next year and will see Ruffalo reunite with Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston, who will be back as Thor and Loki.

We are going to see Ruffalo back on the big screen in the new year as he leads an ensemble cast in the already critically acclaimed Spotlight. He has also completed work on Now You See Me 2, which sees him reprise the role of Dylan Rhodes.

Ruffalo is also in the Golden Globe race, having picked up a Best Actor in a Musical/Comedy for Infinitely Polar Bear.

Thor: Ragnarok is scheduled for a 27th October 2017 release.
