Mark Ruffalo has hinted that we are going to see the Bruce Banner/Hulk relationship explored like it has never been done before.

Ruffalo is set to step out of the Avengers franchise for the first time as he will star in Thor: Ragnarok, which will star filming later this year.

We last saw the character in Avengers: Age of Ultron, where we saw him run from his friends at the end of the film. Ruffalo hints that Banner is going to stop running as this story and characters are developed further.

Speaking to Collider, the actor said: "I think the arc that he is ultimately making in his relationship with The Hulk and how that's gonna resolve itself, that's really where - nobody has gone to that place.

He's always been running from him or trying to deny it but they are coming for a collision course with each other and I think that could be pretty exciting if we can figure out a way, how to do it - multi-dimensionally."

Thor: Ragnarok will see Ruffalo reunite with Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston, who will reprise their roles of Thor and Loki.

Ruffalo is not the only big new additions to the Thor cast list as Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, and Karl Urban are also on board.

Thor: Ragnarok is the third film in the Thor series and will see Taika Waititi direct a Marvel film for the very first time.

Thor: Ragnarok will be the third of three Marvel films to hit the big screen next year and will come after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming.

As for Ruffalo, he is back on the big screen this summer as he reprises the role of Dylan Rhodes in Now You See Me 2. The movie comes three years after the success of the first as he reunites with Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Michael Caine, and Morgan Freeman.

Now You See Me 2 is the first time that we have seen Ruffalo on the big screen since the critical success of Spotlight, which went on to win the Best Picture Oscar at the beginning of the year. Ruffalo was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his performance - losing out to Mark Rylance for Bridge of Spies.

Thor: Ragnarok is released 27th October 2017.
