Naomie Harris

Naomie Harris will be involved in more action scenes in 'Bond 24'.

The 'Skyfall' actress - who was introduced as Miss Moneypenny in last year's box office hit - will have a bigger role in the next movie, which will reportedly see her act as a sidekick to Daniel Craig's James Bond.

Director Sam Mendes and producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are reportedly keen to make Harris' character less desk-bound than previous incarnations played by actresses such as Lois Maxwell and more recently Samantha Bond.

An insider told the Daily Mail newspaper: "The idea formulating in Bond-land is for Naomie to be much more of a sidekick to James, and for her to get out and harm the bad guys."

Harris' Moneypenny appeared as Bond's partner in the field at the start of 'Skyfall' last year, but later became an assistant to Ralph Fiennes' Gareth Mallory, the chairman of the Intelligence and Security Committee.

'Bond 24' will begin shooting next year for release in 2015.

Meanwhile, Harris is being tipped for Oscar glory for her performance alongside Idris Elba in 'Mandela: A Long Walk to Freedom', in which she portrays the former South African president's wife, Winnie Mandela.
