Sony Pictures UK has recently released a brand-new ‘Nightmare’ trailer for upcoming movie, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City

Resident Evil has been a long-running and beloved gaming franchise since the first title’s release back in 1996. The games focused on zombie-like creatures and would introduce new characters and challenges in each and every game.

The gaming series was turned into a film franchise, with the film Resident Evil releasing in 2002. The films, with Milla Jovovich as main character Alice, did reasonably well as they were entertaining, but weren’t exactly game accurate.

This December (2021), however, director and writer Johannes Roberts brings Resident Evil fans a more original and thrilling story with Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. The movie is set to be a lot more game accurate and seems to have a great deal of love poured into it.

The upcoming feature will return fans to the origins of the franchise, the iconic Raccoon City. Once a bustling home of pharmaceutical giant, the Umbrella Corporation, Raccoon City is now a decaying, rotting Midwestern wasteland.

Umbrella’s exodus left the city a barren land of nothingness, with a great and sinister evil laying just below the surface. When this hideous evil is released, a group of survivors must work together in order to find out the truth behind Umbrella; if they can make it through the night.

The new ‘Nightmare’ trailer for the movie showcases even more of the horror elements that Roberts plans to bring to the feature. There is an eerie, desolate type of music playing, the beasts created out of pure evil are genuinely terrifying; we also see new and old monsters which adds to the excitement of this remake.

The trailer really showcases not only the incredible horror aesthetic within the movie, but Roberts’ adoration for the games and this upcoming release is stark. It seems to be a loyal remake and, despite some concern from fans, looks absolutely amazing.

Starring in the forthcoming film, is Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper as Albert Wesker and Avan Jogia as Leon S. Kennedy, with Donal Logue and Neal McDonough.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City will be in cinemas on December 3rd, 2021.
