Ruth Jones has suggested that Gavin & Stacey could be heading to the big screen.

Jones brought the popular TV series to the BBC along with co-creator James Corden, but the show was brought to an end in 2010.

Speaking to the Radio Times about the future of the show, she said: "We haven't any concrete plans but we will at some stage.

"It might be a Gavin & Stacey special or it might be a film..."

Thousands of viewers tuned in to the last episode to watch Smithy finally get together with Nessa - while Gavin and Stacey - played by Matt Horne and Joanna Page - revealed they were expecting a baby together. The show also stars Alison Steadman and Larry Lamb.

After the comedy went off air 14,000 people signed an online petition begging for it to return.

Jones returned to the small screen with Stella, a role that she will be returning to when the series returns later this month for a third season.
