Sam Raimi

Sam Raimi has revealed that he is not yet on board to direct a sequel to Oz The Great And Powerful.

The movie marched to the top of the U.S. box office over the weekend taking an impressive $80 million and so it is not surprising that talk of a second film is already circling.

Mila Kunis had revealed E! Online that she and the other members of the cast were signed up for a second film - but it may be without Raimi.

Speaking to Bleeding Cool the director said: "I haven’t planned on directing the sequel. I did leave some loose ends for another director if they want to make the picture...

"I was attracted to [the 'Oz the Great and Powerful' story] but I don’t think the second one would have the thing I would need to get me interested."

Oz The Great and Powerful is the first film for Raimi since horror film Drag Me To Hell back in 2009.

Oz The Great And Powerful is out now.
