Obvious Child

Obvious Child

Obvious Child is set to hit the big screen next week and will mark the feature film directorial debut of Gillian Robespierre.

Obvious Child is based on the short film by Robespierre, and was a big hit when it played at the Sundance Film Festival at the beginning of the year.

There is a week to go until the film drops here in the UK, and we have a fantastic exclusive clip for you to take a look at.

The clip features Donna (Jenny Slate) and her friend Joey discussing the strait-laced Max, and how he’s not her type:

Jenny Slate is an actress who continues to make a name for herself in both film and television, and she will take on the central role of Donna.

Slate is joined by a great cast as Jake Lacy, Gaby Hoffman, Gabe Liedman, and Polly Draper will all star.

Obvious Child is the story of unapologetic Brooklyn comedian Donna Stern (Slate), a twenty-something loose cannon who gets dumped, fired and pregnant in quick succession.

Better at cracking jokes about her flatulence and the contents of her knickers in her weekly stand-up routine than doing her taxes, Donna has a lot of growing up to do.

With her parents nudging her to take control of her life, Donna is forced to do just that when she falls pregnant following a one-night stand with clean-cut, sensible Max (Lacy) - a guy not remotely her type - and decides to seek the choice most responsible to her future.

With the support of her friends Nellie (Hoffmann) and Joey (Liedman), Donna learns how to be brave, honest, and vulnerable in real life; not just on stage.

We have not been treated to too many great comedy/romances this year, but it looks like Obvious Child is set to be the exception to the role.

Obvious Child is released 29th August.
