Anne Hathaway in Les Miserables

Anne Hathaway in Les Miserables

This years's Oscars are now just a handful of days away and they promise to be the most exciting in years.

While many of the categories are wide open in 2013 Best Supporting Actress is not one of them.

Amy Adams, Sally Field, Anne Hathaway, Helen Hunt and Jacki Weaver are all in the running but it is Hathaway who has been dominating the award's circuit.

Anne Hathaway - Les Miserables

Anne Hathaway is no stranger to the Oscars having hosted the show and been nominated for Best Actress in the past.

She has been recognised in the Best Supporting actress category this time around for her stunning performance as Fantine in Les Miserables.

Hathaway may have on fifteen minutes screen time but it is a very powerful quarter of an hour as she shows her acting and vocal skills.

Her rendition of I Dreamed A Dream is one of the most powerful and memorable moments in the film.

Hathaway has already been triumphant at the Golden Globes, Baftas and Screen Actors Guild as well as an array of other awards in recent weeks.

The actress is the smoking hot favourite for the gong and it is unlikely that anyone will spoil her party.

Sally Field - Lincoln

But if there was to be a shock upset the only actress in the category that has the power to do it is the fabulous Sally Field.

The actress takes on the role of Mary Todd Lincoln in the biopic about the American President.

Field is no stranger to Oscar glory with two Best Actress gongs under her belt during her career.

She is one of the most respected actresses of her generation and she delivers a terrific performance in the Steven Spielberg directed movie.

Mary Todd Lincoln has always been a fascinating figure in American politics and Field depicts her a complex and intelligent woman.

In any other year Field would have walked away with the Oscar for this performance but it does seem unlikely that she will get the better of Hathaway.

The Oscar winners are revealed 24th February
