The Wolf Of Wall Street

The Wolf Of Wall Street

I always look forward to a collaboration between Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio as they have delivered a string of fantastic films in recent years.

January will see the actor and director collaborate for a fifth time and the first film since the big screen adaptation of Shutter Island.

The Wolf of Wall Street is another adaptation as together Scorsese and DiCaprio bring the story of former New York stockbroker Jordan Belfort; the movie is based on the memoir penned by Belfort.

DiCaprio will take on the central role of Belfort in the film - a performance that could well see him nominated for another Best Actor Oscar.

It would be a second Best Actor Oscar nomination for a Martin Scorsese film performance after picking up a nod for The Aviator.

As you may expect from a Scorsese film, a fantastic cast has been assembled as Jonah Hill, Matthew McConaughey, Jon Bernthal and Jon Favreau are all also on board.

Terence Winter has penned the screenplay for the film; it would be his third film screenplay after Get Rich or Die Tryin’ and Brooklyn Rules.

Winter has made a name for himself in television having written extensively for the likes of Boardwalk Empire and The Sopranos.

The Wolf of Wall Street follows a New York stockbroker refuses to cooperate in a large securities fraud case involving corruption on Wall Street, corporate banking world and mob infiltration.

It is great to see Martin Scorsese back in the director’s chair and this is the first live action film for the filmmaker since the success of Hugo; he concentrated on documentary George Harrison: Living In The Material World.

As for DiCaprio, it has been a very busy twelve months with success with Django Unchained and The Great Gatsby in 2013; The Wolf of Wall Street will cap off a trio of very different movies and roles for the versatile actor.

There are many movies, actors and directors names being banded around as possible Oscar contenders and The Wolf of Wall Street is in the mix.

The Wolf of Wall Street is released 17th January 2014.
