12 Years A Slave

It has been an exciting week on the trailer front as we have been treated to a first look at a handful of major films that our heading our way next year.

So, just in case you have missed any of the major film video events this week, we round up the must see trailer.

- 12 Years A Slave - released 24th January 2014.

12 Years A Slave is one of the movies of early 2014 that we are already excited about here at FemaleFirst.

The movie marks the return of Steve McQueen in the director's chair and is an adaptation of the memoir by Solomon Northup.

The movie follows Solomon Northup, a free black man in New York who is tricked and sold into slavery.

Facing cruelty as well as unexpected kindnesses, Solomon struggles not only to stay alive, but to retain his dignity.

In the twelfth year of his unforgettable odyssey, Solomon’s chance meeting with a Canadian abolitionist (Pitt) forever alters his life.

A wonderful cast has been assembled as Chiwetel Ejiofor plays Northup. He is joined by Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Dano, Paul Giamatti and Brad Pitt.

- The Fifth Estate - released 1st January 2014.

Benedict Cumberbatch is set to be very busy at the beginning of 2014 as he will be promoting The Fifth Estate as well as 12 Years A Slave.

The Fifth Estate looks at the founding of WikiLeaks and Cumberbatch will play Julian Assange in the film.

The movie sees Cumberbath team up with director Bill Condon, while Daniel Bruhl, Alicia Vikander, Stanley Tucci, Laura Linney and Anthony Mackie are all set to star.

Following Daniel Domscheit-Berg (Brühl), an early supporter and eventual colleague of Julian Assange (Cumberbatch), 'The Fifth Estate' traces the heady, early days of WikiLeaks, culminating in the release of a series of controversial and history changing information leaks.

The website’s overnight success brought instant fame to its principal architects and transformed the flow of information to news media and the world at large.

- How To Train Your Dragon 2 - released 4th July 2014.

How To Train Your Dragon was one of the biggest animation movies when it was released back in 2010.

Next summer will see the sequel hit the big screen, and we have been treated to a little teaser this week.

The movie is loosely based on the novel by Cressida Cowell and sees Dean DeBlois back in the director's chair.

Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill and Christopher Mintz-Plasse will all lend their voices to the movie.

- Rush - released

Rush is one of the autumn movies that we are really looking forward to as the rivalry between F1 drivers Niki Lauda and James Hunt is brought to the big screen.

The movie marks the return to the director's chair for Ron Howard in what is his first movie since The Dilemma.

Daniel Bruhl will take on the role of Lauda while Chris Hemsworth will play British driver Hunt.

Set against the sexy and glamorous golden age of Formula 1 racing, Rush portrays the exhilarating true story of two of the greatest rivals the world has ever witnessed - handsome English playboy James Hunt and his methodical, brilliant opponent, Niki Lauda.

Taking us into their personal lives on and off the track, Rush follows the two drivers as they push themselves to the breaking point of physical and psychological endurance, where there is no shortcut to victory and no margin for error.

So if you are a film fan then you are in for a treat over the next year or so as there are so many great movies on the horizon.
