Spirit of London 2011

The Spirit of London Awards 2011 promise to be bigger and better than ever before as the first artists in this year’s stellar musical line up are announced.

Brit hip-hop star Tinchy Stryder and rising soul sensation, Dionne Bromfield will take centre stage alongside Mercury Prize nominee Katy B, London street dance troupe Diversity and chart-topping, drum & bass artist DJ Fresh to celebrate the young people making a difference across the capital.

Joining them, Stacey Solomon and Eddie Kadi are also confirmed as co-hosts of the Awards, which will be held on 10th October at one of the world’s most prestigious venues – the Royal Albert Hall.

Tickets have now gone on sale for this hugely anticipated event which is into its third year and has been previously dubbed the “Community Oscars for Young People”.

Former X-Factor star and this year’s co-host Stacey Solomon said:

“I’m so proud to be co-hosting this year’s Spirit of London Awards – it’s so important that we celebrate the inspiring young people all over our capital who are making such amazing contributions to their local communities.

"These Awards make a real difference to all Londoners and this year’s event is shaping up to be yet another star-studded success.”

Gary Trowsdale, Awards Founder and Executive Director, said:

“The excitement is really building for this year’s event and the calibre of this year’s line-up shows the massive level of support we have from the musical community for these Awards.

“These awards are a fantastic way of recognising and rewarding the many young people who make a positive contribution to the capital. We urge Londoners to show their support and come and join us for a star studded evening at the Royal Albert Hall.”

Support for the Spirit of London Awards is growing. This year’s venue, the Royal Albert Hall, chose the Spirit of London Awards to receive the one free let it offers to one charity each year.

A registered charity itself, the Hall’s annual charity free let allows a registered charity to hire the Hall free of charge without paying any rental or ticket commission as part of the Hall’s wider ongoing charitable remit.

The Awards are supported by a number of organisations and ambassadors including, Prime Minister David Cameron, London Mayor Boris Johnson, Brooke Kinsella and Rio Ferdinand.
