Excitement for this year's festival season is at an all time high in the UK, and with the promise of some fantastic lineups and a scorching summer, it could well be one of the best years to crack out the tent and get camping at your favourite festival for a weekend of fun.

Motorola recently conducted research into summer festivals and the trends that come with them, and it turns out technology has never been more important than it is in the present day.

Nearly a third of those surveyed said that their favourite summer activity is attending a music festival with friends, with 74% admitted they'd have to take their smartphones along for the ride.

When asked which three items were most important to survive a music festival, attendees chose smartphones over deodorant (58%) and cash cards (49%).

Festival fears are unsurprisingly the queues for the vile portaloo toilets (34%) and the anxiety that their smartphone would run out of battery (16%).

Over half of the people surveyed stated longer battery life is the most important feature when choosing a phone for a music festival, above durability, price and size, with 46% admitting they'd swap their phone with one that has all-day battery life.

Fashion may be vital for some, and the study found here that almost double the number of men (13% of men to 8% of women) would prefer to match their outfits to the colour of their phone cases.

Let us know your festival musts in the comment section below - is fashion and style more important than phone life, or would you be lost without your handset in your grasp at all times?
