As we close out the week, another rapper leaves Shady Records, is there a new lease of life on the horizon for Vibe Magazine, a Florida rapper gets two years in jail and Jay Z will perform at this years VMAs in New York City.

Bobby Creekwater Says Goodbye

After being signed to Shady Records for four years, Bobby Creekwater, the Atlanta rapper has decided to call it a day with the Eminem headed label and do things his way.

In a statement the rapper who appeared on the Eminem Presents the Re-Up Gang album in 2006 explained that there is no animosity between him and his former label and he expressed how happy he was that there was no attempt by the label to keep him on their roster all the while stalling his career.

Creekwater is currently working on his debut album A Brilliant Mistake which is slated to be executively produced by now former label boss, Eminem.

Vibe Magazine Bought Out

It looks like a new lease of life has been granted for Vibe Magazine, the culture mag founded by Quincy Jones in 1993.

Closing its doors only this Summer a private company, Intermedia have gone ahead and bought the magazine with every intention of getting it back on the news stands as quickly as possible.

"Vibe is the preeminent brand in R&B and Hip-Hop. We feel privileged to purchase and resurrect such a storied brand," said David Koff, of InterMedia Partners. Vibe had a circulation of 800,000 in 2007 and was one of the premier urban culture magazines available.

Lyrics Get Rapper Two Years

A Florida rapper who penned a track about threatening to kill two cops had been given two years behind bars for ‘corruption by threat of a public servant.’

Antavio Johnson, who was already serving time for drug related charges had posted a song to his myspace page that called out two police officers that he accused of harassment by name in the track Kill Me a Cop.

Officials had been researching gang violence on the internet when they discovered the track by Johnson.

Jay Z Will Perform

With the VMAs back in NYC after a brief spell in Miami and Los Angeles, hometown hero Jay Z will be gracing the stage at this years festivities set to take place on September 13th.

It is unclear what songs Jay Z will be performing but the rapper who is up for two awards for his video for D.O.A is up against some serious competition this year at the awards.

Nominees for the coveted Moon Man awards include Kanye West, Eminem, Kid Cudi, Drake, Asher Roth, Lady Gaga and Jay Z’s wife, Beyonce is also in contention for an award.
