Google is set to launch a new way to find new musicians, having teamed up with a group of youngster to develop a ‘music map’.

A product of Google’s Advantage course, which offers 17-26 year old non-graduates the chance to learn skills in digital marketing, this new service will let music lovers discover new acts by area or genre.

This all came as result of a challenge set by global radio show Best of British Unsigned, who challenged the students to develop the map to help their website visitors view all of the artists who had featured on the show.

Best of British Unsigned producer Talia Slack said: “It is so hard for unsigned musicians to get heard that providing a searchable database was an essential step for us to support them. The idea of a map is perfect and I can’t wait to have a play on it myself!”

The music map goes live tomorrow.
