‘Everybody knows Carnegie Hall is the place to go. Cubans kept asking me: “When we going to New York?” I actually never thought it would happen, but a lot of people worked hard, and tried really hard, and on 1 July we were there. That was a great night. They loved it, I loved it, everybody just went crazy. That would be the last show for the Buena Vista Social Club.’

Available for the first time, the legendary Carnegie Hall concert by the original Buena Vista Social Club.

With over 8 million sales, the Buena Vista Social Club album is the biggest selling World Music album of all time.

The original line up only made 3 concert appearances - two at Amsterdam's Carré Theatre and one at New York's legendary Carnegie Hall, which became the centrepiece of Wim Wenders’ film, one of the most successful music documentaries of all time.

To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of that historic Carnegie Hall performance, World Circuit is proud to announce the digital release of 'Chan Chan' - the theme tune from the album and film - recorded in performance 10 years ago on July 1st 1998.

In October World Circuit will release a lavishly packaged double CD set of this unique event. Produced by and featuring Ry Cooder and a galaxy of Cuba's greatest musicians including Ibrahim Ferrer, Rubén González, Eliades Ochoa, Omara Portuondo, Compay Segundo, Cachaíto López and Guajiro Mirabal.
