Let me take you somewhere. It’s a little town called Leamington Spa. I’m sure anyone who’s been there will tell you it’s pretty ordinary but, more often than not, if you look hard enough, in the ordinary you are bound to find an element that is truly extra-ordinary. While the others of Leamington Spa have been whittling away the past year four guys called Henry, Simon, Tom and Fred, collectively called Post War Years, have been in pubs, clubs and basements creating the most danceable, other-worldly synth-beat driven sounds to come out of that part of the world since…well…ever. Post War Years have been cutting their teeth (and plenty of rug) playing some of the most innovative live shows the South of England has ever seen including a tour with Tom Vek. To see Post War Years live is to be confronted by a whirlwind of racing synths, samplers, and vocal harmonies and band members switching instruments. The overall sound bridges the gap between Joy Division Factory Records angularity and the fusion seen when Talking Heads injected funk hooks into pop music. The Black Morning has an ambient piano refrain that takes you to a field rave in the 1990’s and You And Me Both will bring you right back to a 10CC show…with a lot of organ. As you can see, innovation is in abundance. Their demo recordings, show the band are deservedly ambitious; sampled saxophones and swirling synth pads sit next to perfect pop hooks and with a single firmly in the pipe-line for early summer Post War Years are set to unleash their music onto the unsuspecting public. Catch Post War Years on a series of dates including a coveted spot in the Camden Crawl and at The Great Escape. Black Morning is released on 5th May on Chess Club Records A side – Black Morning B Side – You and Me Both/Latin Holiday Post War Years
