Manchester’s supreme electro rockers THE WHIP unleash the eagerly anticipated ‘Blackout’ on 14th July - taken from their electrifyingly infectious debut album ‘X Marks Destination’, released earlier this year on Southern Fried Records.

A 360 musical assault to the senses, ‘Blackout’s pulsating electro throb, captivating crescendo’s and guitar laden riffs twist and turn as the track journeys into a vortex - encompassing the heady atmosphere of Manchester’s notorious music scene and days that will never be forgotten - ‘Blackout’ brings the vibe of 1988’s second summer of love bang up to date for ‘08

. Punchy beats and dirty bass lines thrust together colourful memories of the Hacienda’s iconic era, giving a nod to the days when DJ’s dropped the lights at the peak of frenzied tunes to the sounds of foot-stomping crowds screaming ‘black out!’ whilst everybody was gleefully havin’ it on the dark, sweaty dancefloor.

‘Blackout’ steers the way for an epic summer of hedonism, bringing with it a string of incendiary live Whip performances. Kicking off this May, the band return from a month long continent-wide European jaunt to a UK all ages tour, before leaping over to Australia at the end of May for the Antipodean leg of their album launch.

Hot on its heels is a non-stop jam-packed summer festival schedule, which sees the band take in every credible festival under the sun, including stops along the way at The Great Escape, Gatecrasher Summer Sound System, Glastonbury, Reading, Leeds, Wireless, Creamfields, V, Isle of Wight Festival amongst others where they will be whipping up the crowd in truly sizzling summer style.
