Ane Brun fans are in for a real treat this week as the deluxe version of It All Starts With One is released which is a double disk and eighteen track release.

And this album really is some of the best work that Ane Brun has ever produced as she takes her sound down a slightly different path.

From start to finish this album has a very dark feel about it but Brun’s vocal style is just so captivating that she really does draw you in.

These Days is the opening track to the album and is a perfect example of what we can expect from the rest of the record - Brun’s haunting vocals are supported by a very minimal arrangement.

The arrangements really are kept very basic throughout; acoustic guitar, strings, drums or an organ are used and while everything is kept quite sparse this really have given each track more depth.

Brun’s duet with Jose Gonzales is one of the highlights on disk one as it really is a contrasting of styles as Gonzales deep tones really do mix well with Brun’s more fragile sounding vocals.

But this deluxe release treats us to ten new tracks and these really are the perfect complement to the original songs on this album.

There is a more atmospheric sound to disk two while Brun’s delicate, quivering and highly pitched vocals are really emotive and just bring another level to the songs.

There is still quite a sparse feel to the arrangements on the opening track Dirty Windshield - Brun accompanied by a piano and some percussion.

But these arrangements get more extravagant and daring as the new songs unfold - One Last Try is a perfect example as the piano that features really does bring this beautiful track to life.

The stark piano contrasts so beautifully with Brun’s high pitched and stripped back vocals - this is by far one of the best of the new tracks.

This basic piano with Brun’s vocals is used again on I Would Hurt A Fly to produce another incredibly haunting track.

It All Starts With One was a triumph first time around but the deluxe edition just showcases Ane Brun’s unique and beautiful style even further.
