Gaggle was the brain child of Deborah Coughlin and formed back in 2008 but this week marks the release of their debut album.

The album from this twenty one piece female choir is a collection truly unique tracks that come together to make a record that is like nothing else that has been released so far this year.

From The Mouth of the cave just oozes creativity and individuality and there are not two songs on this album that are alike.

But with this band it is not all about the vocal as instruments and sounds all come together to make this a real experience.

From The Mouth Of The Cave is the opening track on the album and after the haunting sound of the organ dies down the vocals kick in singing ‘come with me’ and we are invited on this great musical journey.

And it is a musical journey that takes it a whole host of genres from the upbeat and very female empowering Army of Birds, the collection of different voices really brings this track to life and it is one of the best on the album.

The pace is brought down a peg or two with Liar and this is a song of real uncertainty as Gaggle sing ‘how can I tell if my man’s a liar’ but once again the power of the collective voice that has a huge impact.

From The Mouth Of The Cave is a thrilling and unique album that crosses boundaries and mixes genres with greatest ease and to great effect.

This is a great sounding album because it is so different to anything else around at the moment just when you think you know where the record is going Gaggle take you down an entirely new and unexpected path.

Gaggle are an exciting group of musicians who are keen to push boundaries and experiment with a whole host of sounds and that is what makes them so exciting.   Gaggle - From The Mouth Of The Cave is out now
