Chapter II marks the return for The Audition after splitting from label Victory Records and taking control of their sound and moving themselves forward as a band.
The six track EP is the first release from the band that has no major label interference and it sees them take the sound of the band down a different path.
Who Do You Think You Are is the opening track on the EP and there is a rockier edge to the track than we have seen before from the boys.
There is just a big sounding track and Danny Stevens’ powerful vocal really does elevate this song even further.
You can hear the improvement in his voice as there just seems to be more energy in there as if he really believes in what he is singing this time around.
And the vocal is supported so well by the great guitars on this track, the opening is especially great, and the riffs and licks really help bring the whole track to life.
You Make Me Sick is another quick paced track and it is the catchiest song in this EP and you really see The Audition let rip.
Much like Who Do You Think You Are there is a big feel to this track and you just know that live they are both going to blow the roof off any arena.
Evil is more of a pop track than the two that have come before it but it is a catchy track that you will be humming it long after you have finished listening to it.
The back end of the EP is perhaps not as strong as the opening three tracks but there is still and energy running through Back and Forth and You Gotta Believe but these tracks sound the most like their older material.
The Audition really do seem to have thrown the shackles off and they are now making rockier and edgier music that suits them so well.
It’s great to see them really take control of their sound and have delivered an EP that is brimming with catchy tracks that will play so well live.
I am really looking forward to see them write and record a full length record.
