Rating: 4/5

Zoltar Speaks have gained quite a following on the live circuit since they burst onto the scene back in 2009 but this week sees them release their debut EP Treatment.

From the opening chords of the electric guitar on A Metaphor you know exactly what Zoltar Speaks are all about… they are a mighty metallic band.

The guitars take a front and centre stage at the beginning of the track and it is a good seventy seconds before the vocals kick in.

And the powerful vocals of Louise Body immediately grab your attention as they cut through the backing guitars.

An energy builds throughout the track as it is packed with great and angry riffs that really bring this track to life.

There is a real ferocity to How Could You Blame? As the thumping drums of Ben Dean and the brutal rhythms from Ollie Smith, Jason Coles and Shane Yard are simply superb.

The Best Revenge has possibly the heaviest rift on the entire EP and there is a fantastic guitar solo in the middle of the track that will have all metal fans just punching the air.

The opening of Treatment sees Body’s vocals shown off in fine style as it is the quietest opening of all the tracks on the EP.

She has a real power to her vocal and she is able to command every track and she has a real presence that is almost mesmerising.

Treatment may have a softer opening but the track builds and builds with some more great solo work and that is then fantastically contrasted to a softer ending than expecting.

Zoltar Speaks has made quite a statement with Treatment as this is an EP that is packed with energy as all he tracks have a really anthemic feel to them.

This is one of the best metal debuts I have heard in some time and Zoltar Speaks look sound ready to show everyone just what they are capable of.
