According to Lily O'Brien's Chocolates, 79% of people in the UK think that their neighbour of friendly and only 5% would describe their neighbour as annoying. 91% know their neighbour/s by name and many would trust them with important packages- such as those we get delivered at Christmas. This week is Love Your Neighbour Week so we take a look at the top seven best things about having good neighbour.

Do you have a good relationship with your neighbour

Do you have a good relationship with your neighbour

Parcels- If you are not home and they are -they save you that annoying trip to the depot to pick up your parcels at the end of a long day.

Security Guard- Especially if they are light sleepers they have a watchful eye 24/7 because any strange movement is practically noted down in a log book to be discussed at the next conversation over the fence.

Pets- If you have pets that need looking after for a weekend away or during your hols - you can save a packet because they will likely look in on them for you and at the fraction of the cost of a kennels- normally just a bottle of wine covers it!

Party invites- If they have a party- they automatically invite you so you don't complain about the noise- and your social calendar ends up looking quite impressive indeed!

Help- If your partner or housemate is absent and you have an accident in the garden or are near the phone, you can usually rely on them to be over to help you in a jiffy.

Christmas Cards- Most friendly neighbours deliver Christmas cards to everyone in their street or in their cul-de-sac at least, so you will feel very popular in the festive season.

Excess food- If you are going on your hols and need to empty the fridge of a pint of milk, or you have had a party and need to offload some excess cake, then neighbours are a great way to do this- as they are generally up for a freebie- aren't we all?!

They have now launched a competition on the back of the study to try and find Britain's Ultimate Neighbour as part of Love Your Neighbour Week (23rd to 27th February).

Tweet your reason for nominating your neighbour to @lilyobriens using the #UltimateNeighbour for your chance to win a party in a box worth £5k to share with your neighbour or a box of Lily O'Brien's chocolates.
