Today has been labelled as Blue Monday- the most depressing day of the year- the credit card bills are pouring through our letterbox, the weather has taken a turn for the worst and our new year’s resolutions have been broken on more than one occasion. So we need all the help we can get to rise from the slump.

Bio-Kult’s Nutritional Therapist Natalie Lamb has offered some top tips for facing the day in the best way possible!

Eat Well- Soups and stews- foods that are warming and full of your essential nutrients for the day will help you function more efficiently. Your body will thank you for it and it will help your mind focus better at work.

Pro-Biotic- A pro biotic drink will help you to avoid low mood and fatigue. They will aid your digestive tract, ensure you gain essential nutrients your body craves and get rid of excess waste. Get your balance restored.

Avoid rubbish- Don’t rely on chocolate, biscuits and crisps to give you a buzz- they will give you a momentary peak, but they will only make you trough after you have eaten them and often make you feel worse than you did to begin with. Bloating and sluggishness are not helpful when you are already susceptible to a dip in mood.

Say thanks- rather than focusing on all the bad that’s in the world- say a quiet thanks for something or someone you have in your life or make a mental list. For every bad thing there is something good lurking in the background- you just need to find it and bring it to the forefront of your mind.

Sleep- If you didn’t sleep well last night- then make sure you get into bed for 10pm tonight- the best sleep is said to be between 10pm and 6am- so get in your pjs and make up for last night.
