She was attempting to break her current record of 264 mph, which she set in October last year at Elvington airfield in North Yorkshire. She was riding a Suzuki Hayabusa, which her husband Mick had adjusted to ultimately produce more than 600 brake horsepower.
Mick, a former motorbike drag racer, was the one who sparked Becci's interest in racing, which developed into a desire to break records.
The current land speed record on a conventional motorcycle of 311 mph was set by Bill Warner, an American racer, in 2011.
