William and Kate will only hire a part-time nanny when their baby is born as they want to be as hands-on as possible.

The royal couple - who recently announced they are expecting their first child together - don't want to have full-time help once their baby is born as they are keen to be as proactive as possible.

A source told Us Weekly magazine: "They want to be as hands-on as possible. But they still have royal duties they need to attend to that they can't possibly fulfill without some help.

“Kate wants to return to her work as a volunteer for the Scouts, and other charity organisations. They also want to make sure their little bundle of joy gets a taste of life outside palace walls."

The couple also want their child to have an outdoorsy lifestyle as that's what they both enjoy.

The source added: "They're very outdoorsy. I'm sure it will be the same with the kids - playing outside and going for walks."

Prince William and Duchess Catherine - who also goes by her maiden name of Kate Middleton - don't want their child to be spoilt and will be very strict with their offspring's upbringing.

Richard Dalton - who used to be William's mother Princess Diana's hairdresser - told New! magazine: "I don't envisage [William] or Kate allowing their child to be spoilt - far from it. I should think they'll both be quite strict."

In a previous report, it was revealed that 30-year-old Kate will break with royal protocol by not hiring help around the clock in a bid to be "hands-on parents" and, instead, plans to rely upon the baby’s grandparents, Carole and Michael Middleton, as well as a part-time babysitter.

A close friend of the couple's told the MailOnline: "Catherine and William are determined to be hands-on parents. Her parents are very excited about the baby and will help out as much as possible.

"They will, probably, use a part-time nanny to help them out when they have to attend events and don't have a babysitter, but they don't want a full-time nanny."

The royal pair is known to shun domestic help, having reportedly chosen to not have any staff at their home in Anglesey, North Wales.

The news comes as a surprise, however, since William's own childhood nanny, Olga Powell, was a strong presence in his and Prince Harry’s life. The 30-year-old royal cancelled four public engagements in October in order to attend her funeral.

At the time, a St James's Palace spokesman commented: "It is too early to say whether the Duke and Duchess will employ a nanny.”
