Amanda Holden is supporting Pampers and Unicef

For every specially marked pack of Pampers bought or mum and baby photo uploaded onto the Pampers Facebook page, Pampers will donate the cost of one tetanus vaccine to support UNICEF in the fight against Maternal & Newborn Tetanus (MNT).

Thanks to the collective power and support of mums across the globe, Pampers and UNICEF, the world’s children’s organisation, have already helped to eliminate MNT in eightof the world’s poorest countries. Whilst a huge achievement, MNT still threatens the lives of approximately 130 million women and their newborns in 33 countries.

The disease is easily prevented by the administration of a simple vaccination programme. With your support, we can help protect the women and newborns that are at risk...

Amanda Holden, who is Pampers ambassador, says: “I’m supporting the Pampers UNICEF ‘Picture a Better Future’ campaign, to celebrate the achievements of the collective power of mums across the world in the fight against MNT.

"It’s fantastic to see how the efforts of mums everywhere have made a significant difference already, but is also a reminder that women and babies around the world are still at risk and continue to die needlessly from a disease that can be so easily prevented.

"It’s easy to get involved. You can either buy a specially marked pack of Pampers or visit the Pampers UK & Ireland Facebook Page and upload a photo of you and your little one to our celebratory mosaic today.

"For every photo that is uploaded, or special pack of Pampers bought, Pampers will donate the cost of an additional tetanus vaccine to UNICEF, helping us get closer to our ultimate goal of achieving global elimination of MNT," she adds.

MNT occurs when newborns or mothers are infected at birth, often as a result of unhygienic birthing practices. It is however entirely preventable through simple injections administered to pregnant women and girls of child bearing age.

David Bull, UNICEF's UK Executive Director says: “Eliminating a disease in eight countries is an amazing accomplishment and we couldn’t have done it without the support of Pampers and mums across the world. The disease is easily prevented by the administration of a simple vaccination programme. With your support, we can help protect the women and newborns that are at risk so they too can enjoy safety and protection from MNT too.”
